Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Buffalo, NY - The Mount Aloysius softball team completed its regular season schedule Thursday as it split its doubleheader against D'Youville College. The Mounties lost game one 10-5 and came back to win game two by a final score of 10-7.

Mount Aloysius fell behind early as D'Youville's bats got off to a hot start. They were able to score six runs off of starting pitcher Nina Shatzer, on seven hits, including a three-run home run to left field. Kara Pisczek entered in the 3rd inning and pitched the remaining five frames for the Mounties. She allowed four runs in the five innings, however only one of them was earned. Pisczek allowed three hits while walking two and striking out four.

Offensively, the Mounties also struggled early, going down in order through the first three innings. Mount Aloysius was able to push across three runs in the 4th. After Courtney Link broke up the no hitter with a leadoff single, she would score two batters later on an RBI groundout from Hannah Ruby. With two outs, the Mounties started another rally, racking up three consecutive hits with a walk and a hit by pitch. The Mounties scored two in the mini-rally, the first scoring on an RBI single from Lydia DeFazio. The second was scored when Karly Klein was hit by a pitch with bases loaded to force in a run.

The final two Mountie runs scored in the final frame. Following another Link leadoff hit, Kayla Hopkins drove in a run with an RBI double to the left-center gap. She would score a batter later when designated hitter Emily Wawroski singled down the line.

Mount Aloysius started game two on a better note, scoring the first run of the game in their first at bat when Wawroski doubled to the right center gap to knock in Link. Pisczek stayed in the circle to start game two, and the Mounties gave up the early lead when D'Youville scored three in the second inning on two hits and three free passes. Pisczek was able to settle down and complete the game for the Mounties. D'Youville was able to push across four more runs in the game, however the Mounties offense built up a big enough lead to allow Pisczek to hold on for her 3rd win of the season.

Mount Aloysius collected 13 hits, with five different players recording multiple hits in the game. The Mounties took advantage of another big inning, scoring six runs in the fourth inning. They used six hits and two errors to score the runs, with Klein, Picszek and Leanne Cardoso-Bastos all driving in runs. Wawroski finished with three RBIs in the game and Link scored three of the Mounties 10 runs.

With the split the Mounties finish their regular season at 17-13 with a conference record of 10-8. The Mounties earned the 3rd seed in the conference tournament, which will be played on Friday and Saturday. The Mounties will take on the #6 seed, Hilbert College tomorrow at 1PM. The winner of that game will go on to face Medaille College, the #2 seed.
