Women's Soccer Draws at D'Youville

Buffalo, NY -- The Mount Aloysius Women's Soccer team traveled to Buffalo on Saturday to take on D'Youville in an AMCC matchup. They came away with a draw against the Spartans.

The 1-1 draw was the fourth tie of the year for Mount Aloysius. It was also their seventh game of the year that went into extra time.

Mount Aloysius was able to control most of the items on the scoresheet, but were unable to make that mean much in the end. They outshot the Spartans, 20-4, with 12 of them being on goal. All four shots by DYC were on target. The Mounties also had 10 corner kicks compared to two for D'Youville.

The Spartans got the scoring started first, in the 30th minute of the game. Makenna Magee scored the goal, which was her seventh of the season, good for third in the AMCC.

In the 52nd minute, the Mounties knotted the game at one. Sam Torrenti (Chester, CT, Valley Regional) took a corner kick and put the kick into the box. Maddie Doyle (Abington, PA, Abington) was able to get her head on it and put it past the D'Youville keeper. The goal was Doyle's second of the season. Her first also came from a corner kick assist, by Torrenti.

Mount Aloysius was able to put four shots on goal during the final 38 minutes of regulation, one in the first overtime period, and two in the second, but were unable to convert any of them into scores.

The Mounties now sit at 2-1-2 in AMCC play. They will return to action on Tuesday, when they host Penn State Altoona. Mount Aloysius has not lost to the Lions since 2015, but tied them 1-1 last year in Cresson. The game is the second of a Men's and Women's Doubleheader beginning at 6 PM.
