Warren, OH -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Golf Team competed in the AMCC Championship Tournament, on Sunday and Monday. They finished in sixth place.
Sunday saw the Mounties sit in sixth, with a team score of 367.Â
Aloysius Lee (Puchong, Malaysia) fired a team-best 80, on the difficult Avalon Lakes course. Lee's 80 landed him in a tie for fifth place after the first day of competition. Mount Aloysius held a slim four-shot lead over Hilbert and trailed Medaille by 13.
Day Two saw significant improvement from the Mounties, as three golfers shot lower scores. They dropped 17 shots on Monday, as they shot a 350. While they still had the sixth best team score of the day, they were just behind Medaille (348) and La Roche (349).
Lee's 81 on day two, gave him a two-day total of 161, good enough to net him a tie for fourth place. It also earned him a spot on the AMCC Championship All-Tournament Team.
Lee was followed by consistent play by
Joe Hudak,
Doug Smith, and
Samuele Stewart, who shot 184, 185, and 187, respectively, on the weekend. Smith made the biggest improvement from Sunday to Monday, as he shaved 13 shots, to fire an 86 on Monday.
Pitt-Bradford won the team championship shooting a 621 (320-321). Cary Ignaczak won the individual title, as he shot a 6-over 150, for both days. His 73 on Monday was the low score of the tournament.
The AMCC Tournament rounded out the 2019 season for the Mounties.
