New Castle, DE -- The Mount Aloysius Bowling team traveled to New Castle, Delaware over the weekend for the Wildcat DII/DIII Invitiational, hosted by Wilmington University.
Friday's competition was in five game Baker format. Mount Aloysius went 4-1 on the day, with wins against New Jersey City (771-635), Medaille (800-780), Mercyhurst (934-823) and Molloy (927-875). Their lone loss of the day was to, host, Wilmington (1063-898). High Baker frame average for the Mounties was
Michelle Bello who rolled a 18.5 average. The Mounties posted their best Baker game and Baker series of the season with a 236 and 934 in the match against Mercyhurst. Second best average for the day was
Savannah Prather with a 17.4.
Day Two was in the Traditional format. Despite a 1-4 record on the day, the Mount Aloysius bowled well and brought many matches down to the last few frames. The first match of the day was determined by three pins where the Mounties rolled an 849 to Felician's 852. Match two was against Daemen College where the Mounties fell 846-782. The third match was the only win Saturday, 858-843, over Bloomfield College. Matches four and five were against Kutztown and, tournament winner, Chestnut Hill, 1008-841 and 966-891, respectively. High game of the day went to Sophomore,
Nicole Nebel, who rolled a 211 in the match against Chestnut Hill. She also rolled a 902 series giving her high average of the day 180.
Kelsey Hammons rolled a 173 average for the five game series to round out the top two.
Day three was in the best-of-seven Baker format. Mount Aloysius once again faced Medaille College. In the back and forth battle, the Mounties were defeated four games to two. The ladies then found themselves in a six round battle against Mercyhurst, where they were handed their second loss of the morning, 4-2. The final match of the day was against New Jersey City where the Mounties prevailed, 4-1. High Baker average on the day was
Kelsey Hammons with a 18.2.
Nicole Nebel rounded out the top two with a 16.3. Mount Aloysius had a disappointing 11th place finish for the weekend.
The Mounties will return to action after the holidays when they head to the first AMCC Round Robin event of the season, in February.
