Altoona, Pa- The Mount Aloysius Men's Tennis team lost its first match of the season Sunday, falling to Juniata College 7-2.
In surprising fashion, the Mounties were unable to come out on top in doubles play. They were able to win the #1 match behind the strength of
Matt Blose (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) and
Nick Goldyn (Sidman,PA/Forest Hills) but were unable to pick up any other points.
Things did not go any better in singles.
Cole Kazmierczyk (Johnstown, Pa/Richland) was the only Mountie to pick up an individual win. He easily dispatched his opponent at number 2, winning 6-0, 6-3. Blose was the only other Mountie to win a set in his match. He won the first set 6-1, but was unable to hold on losing the final two sets 4-6,3-6.
The loss moves the Mounties record to 4-1. They will look to return to winning ways this weekend in their last two matches before Spring Break. They will take on Lycoming at 12:00 on Saturday, and Westminster at 1:00 on Sunday. Both matches will take place at Summit Athletic Club in Altoona.
