Mounties Finish AMCC Round Robin Schedule in Third Place After Strong Weekend

Altoona -- The Mount Aloysius Bowling Team hosted the second Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Round Robin of the year, this weekend, in Altoona. The format was nine Traditional matches, against each of the other AMCC member schools. The Mounties finished the weekend, 8-1, with a total pinfall of 7,863, which earned them second place for the two days. The Mounties will be heading to the AMCC Championship for the 5th straight year, as they earned third place overall, with a conference record of 15-3.  

On Saturday, the Mounties started the weekend with a 789-585 victory over Penn State Altoona. In match number two, they won 836-708, over La Roche. Match number three was a frame to frame fight against, then top seed, Saint Vincent, with the Mounties coming out with a 948-936 win. The fourth match was against then, number two seed, Medaille. In another close match that went down to the final bowlers/frame, the Mounties fell by 13 pins, 869-856. The fifth and final match of the day was against New Jersey City and the Mounties finished a great day of bowling with a 973-794 over the Knights. The high scorer for the day was Michelle Bello (Pennsauken, NJ, Pennsauken) with a 193 average, posting high games of 221 and 234 throughout the five-game day. Second high average was Savannah Prather (Erie, PA, Harbor Creek) with a 183, followed by Nicole Nebel (Butler, PA, Butler) with a 180.

Day two of competition resulted in a 4-0 record for Mount Aloysius, with wins against Penn State Behrend (785-719), D'Youville (987-788), (Hilbert 844-555) and Pitt Bradford (843-753). Kelsey Hammons (Manheim, PA, Manheim Central) owned the high average, for the day, with a 185 for all four games. She was followed by Nebel and Megan Weaver (Gettysburg, PA, Gettysburg), each with a 180 average.  

The Mounties will return to action, following spring break, at the AMCC Championships. The championship tournament will take place March 20-22, in Beaver Falls, Pa. The winner of the AMCC Tournament will earn the conference's authomatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
