Williams Drops Mounties in NCAA Tournament

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Tennis played in their first-ever NCAA Tournament, on Saturday, as they took on the Williams College Ephs. The Mounties fell to the perennial powerhouse, 5-0.

In tournament play, both AMCC and NCAA, matches are not played until completion like the regular season, but are the first to five points. Mount Aloysius fell behind 3-0, in the Doubles portion, falling in both #1 and #2 Doubles, by 8-0 scores. The #3 Doubles pairing of Tanner Beck (Lancaster, PA, Hempfield) and Adam Tussey (Pine Grove Mills, PA, State College) won the lone Doubles game for the Mounties, falling by an 8-1 score.

The Singles matches did not fair much better for Mount Aloysius, as they lost the #3 and #5 Singles spots, 6-0, in all the sets. Losing in those two spots gave the Ephs a 5-0 victory. Caleb Beidle (Bedford, PA, Bedford) won the Mounties' only game of the Singles portion, beating Arturo Kam. Kam was one of 32 men's players selected to the NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Tournament, along with Williams' #2 Singles player, Austin Barr. Their selections rank them as two of the best Division III tennis players in the country, giving even more merit to Beidle's performance against Kam.

Mount Aloysius wraps up their most successful season in program history, which included their first-ever AMCC Regular Season and Conference Tournament titles, as well as their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. They will look to continue to build upon their great success moving forward into 2021-22.
