CRESSON, Pa. -- On Thursday, the Mount Aloysius Softball team played their third doubleheader in as many days, when they hosted Hilbert. The Mounties used a solid offensive attack, scoring 21 runs in just ten innings of action, while winning both games.

Makayla Weyant (Bedford, PA, Chestnut Ridge) was a perfect 7-for-7 on the day, driving in five runs. She also reached base on a walk in Game One.

Lilley Vereshack (Smokerun, Pa., Glendale) each added four hits and three RBIs in the twin-bill.

Traci Hauser (Cherry Tree, Pa., Harmony), continued her solid season in the circle, throwing all five innings in Game Two, allowing just four hits and striking out four.
How It Happened
Game One
- Hilbert struck first in Game One, registering three hits in the frame. Their last two hits came with two outs, driving in three runs, giving them a 3-0 lead.
- The Mounties got a run back in the second inning after Vereshack led off with a triple and scored on a passed ball. 3-1 Hawks.
- After the Hawks got the run back in the top of the third, Mount Aloysius broke open the game in the bottom half. The Mounties tallied 11 hits which led to nine runs in the inning. Pearson, Weyant, andÂ
Tawnya Holben (Pittsburgh, PA, Fox Chapel), all had hits in both of their at-bats during the frame. The final four hits of the inning all produced RBIs, giving the Mounties a 10-4 lead going into the fourth inning.
- Following a scoreless fourth inning, the Mounties again held the Hawks scoreless in the fifth. Mount Aloysius then scored twice in the bottom of the fifth, without having a base hit. The final tally came on aÂ
Kylie Karns (Lower Burrell, Pa., Burrell) RBI ground out to short with runners on first and second. The eight-run lead ended Game One, by a score of 12-4.
Game Two
- Game Two started off as a pitcher's duel, with each team having at least one hit in the first four at-bats, but remaining scoreless. Hilbert's first run came in the third, when Hauser struck out the third batter of the inning, who went on to reach base on a passed ball. Two singles later, a run scores, giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead.
- Mount Aloysius responded with four runs on three hits, also using two errors to push the runs across. Weyant drove in the first run with a single down the left field line. Weyant andÂ
Whitney Cole (McDonald, Pa., South Fayette) later scored when Vereshack doubled to left field. Vereshack would also come around to score, with two outs, whenÂ
Maya Capozzoli (Camp Hill, Pa., Cedar Cliff) doubled to right center field. 4-1 Mounties.
- After a 1-2-3 inning by Hauser, the Mounties added two more runs when Weyant doubled to right center and Cole singled to drive in Weyant, giving the Mounties a 6-1 lead.
- Hauser put up another zero in the top of the fifth inning. AÂ
Lexi Wilt (Shanksville, PA, Shanksville-Stonycreek) single put runners on first and third with one out. Mount Aloysius performed a double steal play, leading to the first run, making it 7-1. With two outs, Pearson tripled to left field, driving in Wilt to make it 8-1. Weyant followed that with her seventh hit of the day, scoring Pearson from third to walk it off, 9-1.
Into the Box Scores
- Mount Aloysius significantly outhit the Hawks in both games. In Game One they tallied 14 hits to only six for Hilbert. In Game Two, they held a 12-4 advantage.
- In Game One, eight Mountie starters all had at least one hit in the game and seven different Mounties each had at least one RBI.

- Mount Aloysius is set to finish the regular season on Saturday, when they travel to Alfred State for a matchup with the Pioneers.
- Alfred State is 5-9 in AMCC play, this season, and have lost their last six games through Game One of their Thursday doubleheader with Houghton.
