INDIANA, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Golf team concluded the 2023 Fall season, on Tuesday, at the AMCC Golf Championship at Indiana Country Club. The two-day tournament was conducted Monday and Tuesday, featuring all nine AMCC members that sponsor Men's Golf. Mount Aloysius finished in fifth place, with a score of 666.
The Mounties were led by
Landon Smith (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal), who finished with a two-day total of 166 (84-82), which earned him a 12th place finish. Sophomore
Tyler Oakes (Roaring Spring, Pa. / Central) had the lowest individual round of the tournament, for the Mounties, as he shot 80 in Monday's opening round. Oakes followed that up with an 87, on Tuesday, to land him in a tie for 13th place.
Mount Aloysius was in a tie for third place after Monday's round, carding a 330. During Tuesday's round, the Mounties fired a 336 and fell one shot behind Hilbert, for the tournament.
Penn State Altoona won the event, for the third consecutive year, shooting a team score of 609. Altoona's Trey Heffelfinger and Peter Nusbaum tied for the individual medalist honor, each with a two-day score of 148. Heffelfinger defeated Nusbaum in a playoff for the individual title. The Lions will represent the AMCC at the NCAA Championship Tournament, in May, at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
