Mounties Fall Short to Lycoming

Box Score CRESSON, PA. -- Sophomore TJ Yablonski (Fredericksburg, VA, Stafford) and junior Tanner Beck (Lancaster, PA, Hempfield) picked up the 8-5 victory at three doubles for the Mounties, taking the sole doubles win in the team's 3-6 loss to the visiting Lycoming Warriors.

Graduate student Cole Kazmierczyk (Johnstown, PA, Richland) bounced back from a 4-8 one doubles loss to overcome Nate Redell at one singles, pitting aggressive baseline play against the Lycoming senior's serve-volley finesse. The tight three sets saw two tiebreaks claimed by Kazmierczyk, who ended the match with a blistering forehand down the line.

Sophomore Matt Jacobs (Somerset, PA, Somerset) also went the distance, picking up a tweener winner en route to third set tiebreak loss.

Freshmen Lucas Letizia (Dublin, Oh., Worthington Christian) and Zachary Johnson (Treasure Lake, Pa., DuBois Area) dropped a closely contested two doubles match 5-8, with Letizia's three singles and Johnson's four singles matches each being decided by one break each set.

Senior Tyler Gannon (Pittsburgh, PA, Central Catholic) saw two sets come down to the wire at six singles, dropping both 5-7.

Beck's closing efforts at five singles matched his doubles success, picking up the win 6-2 6-4 as the sun began to set.
