GROVE CITY, Pa. -- On Thursday, the Mount Aloysius Men's Golf team traveled to Grove City Country Club for the 2023 Grove City Fall Invitational. They earned a fourth place finish out of 17 teams.
Landon Smith (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal)Â led the Mounties by shooting a 3-over 75. That earned him a tie for third place, individually, with Ellian Ascencio from Westminster. Point Park's Troy Loughry was the event's individual medalist, with an even-par score of 72.
Mount Aloysius' depth helped with their fourth place finish, as they got a 79 from
Tyler Oakes (Roaring Spring, Pa. / Central), an 80 from
Felix Feres (San Luis Potosí, Mexico /Â Montverde Academy (Fla.)), and an 81 from
Aloysius Lee (Puchong, Malaysia / SMK Taman S.E.A). All three finishing in the top 33 of the 100 person field.
The team score of 315 is their second-best round of the season, behind a 304 on Day One of the Gatorade Collegiate.
Mount Aloysius is set to host Day One of the Mountain Valley Collegiate Classic, on Saturday, at Summit Country Club. All players will go off in tee times, beginning at 10:24 a.m. Day Two of the event will be on Sunday at Sinking Valley Country Club.
