Mountie Golf Wraps Up Regular Season Schedule

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- The Mountie Men's Golf team teed it up this past weekend at Williamsport Country Club for the Northeast Elite Invitational. The Mounties were looking to gain some momentum and end their regular season events on a positive note before heading to the AMCC Championship.

The Mount Aloysius squad produced a solid score of 603 for the tournament, but saw themselves finish in a tie for 15th place. For context, the 20-team field featured eight schools that made the 2024 NCAA Tournament, all of which were conference champions.

One of the positive takeaways for the weekend as freshman Josh Nicholl (Ballymena, Northern Ireland / Cullybackey College) finishing in a tie for 11th place, individually. He continues his solid stretch of golf, finishing as the top Mountie in every event he's played in. Nicholl produced a one-over-par scored of 143 (72-71) for the tournament, lowering his season scoring average to 73.4.

Fellow freshman, Ethan Batstone (Swindon, England / South Gloucestershire and Stroud) also showed promise, finishing in a tie for 21st. He produced a two-day score of 145 (+3), including a score of 69 on day two. His score of 69 set a career-best mark, through his first four tournaments. It also marks the first time a Mountie golfer has finished a round below 70, since Head Coach Dylan Link shot 66, back in 2014. Link's score of 66 still serves as the program record for lowest single round.

The Mounties will return to action at the AMCC Championship, October 14-15, at Butler Country Club. The AMCC Championship tournament will serve as the final event of the 2024 Fall Schedule. Mount Aloysius finished in fifth place at last year's Championship, which was hosted at Indiana Country Club.
