MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Over the weekend, the Mount Aloysius Rifle team wrapped up their fall schedule, with a back-to-back match against Morehead State. On Saturday, the Mounties fell 4659-4548, and then dropped Sunday's match, 4673-4575.
Kayla Trinkle (Zionsville, Pa. / Southern Lehigh) was the Mounties' top shooter, posting scores of 1,152 and 1,157, over the two days of competition. On Day One, she produced a program-record, 589, in air rifle, just three points behind the leaders. Trinkle shot an identical air rifle score of 589 on Day Two, which was seventh overall.
Molly Miller (Alum Bank, Pa. / Chestnut Ridge)Â produced the highest single day score for the Mounties, as she shot a 1,162 on Day Two. Her highest event score came in smallbore, where she shot 574, which was seventh in the match. Miller ranked sixth on Day Two overall and eighth on Day One.
Also cracking the top ten was
Elissa Barron (Hooversville, Pa. / North Star). She shot a 1,141 on Day One to finish ninth overall, then followed that up with a 1,149 to finish in tenth place.
Sydney Castel (Portage, Pa. / Portage)Â andÂ
Samantha Hayman (Berlin, Pa. / Berlin Brothersvalley) each added scores of over 1,100 on one of the two days. On Saturday, it was Hayman with a score of 1,113 overall, then Castel on Sunday with a score of 1,107.
The Mounties will take a hiatus until the end of January, when they get back into action against Army West Point, on January 25.
