STATE COLLEGE, PA – History was made this week as the Mount Aloysius College men's golf team claimed its first-ever Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship on Tuesday at Toftrees Golf Resort in State College, PA.
Led by head coach and Mountie Athletics Hall of Famer Dylan Link '15, the Mounties delivered a championship-caliber performance, improving on their opening round 311 with a team score of 302 on day two, finishing 11 strokes ahead of second-place Pitt-Greensburg and 18 clear of Penn State Altoona despite the wet conditions.
Sophomore Josh Nichol (Ballymena, Northern Ireland / Cullybackey College) earned medalist honors, becoming the AMCC Individual Champion after carding an even-par round on day two. Nichol, who was tied for second after the first round, surged to the top of the leaderboard with a poised and consistent final 18 holes.
Freshman Trent Willis (Chesterfield, Va. / Benedictine) made a strong championship debut, finishing third overall. He was tied for the lead after day one and followed it up with a 76 in round two to secure his top-three finish.
Sophomore Viktor Cussil (Sigtuna, Sweden / Arlandagymnasiet) and freshman Luke Sands (Stockholm, Sweden / Upplands Gymnasium) each turned in strong efforts, tying for 12th place to round out the scoring for Mount Aloysius.
With the championship, Mount Aloysius will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament which will be held May 12-15, 2026 in at Mission Resort + Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL.
