Mountie Women’s Soccer Battles Hilbert in Conference Road Match

HAMBURG, N.Y. — The Mount Aloysius College women's soccer team opened Saturday's conference matchup with an early goal but ultimately fell to Hilbert College, 5-1, on October 10 at Varsity Field.

The Mounties came out firing, wasting little time getting on the scoreboard. Just 2:20 into the contest, Kaylee Dowdell (Windber, PA, Windber) found the back of the net off assists from Abigail Solano (Spencerport, N.Y., Spencerport) and Abby Bell (Hollidaysburg, Pa., Hollidaysburg), giving Mount Aloysius an early 1-0 advantage.

The early goal provided a strong start for the Mounties, who continued to generate offensive opportunities throughout the opening half. Hilbert responded with three first-half goals to take a 3-1 advantage into halftime, but Mount Aloysius continued to battle and create chances in the attacking third.

Solano led the Mounties' offensive effort, recording a team-high five shots while also contributing an assist on Dowdell's goal. Brooklyn Galinis (Hastings, Pa., Cambria Heights) provided a spark off the bench, registering two shots, including an attempt that struck the crossbar late in the first half. Erin Stoltzfus (Elizabethtown, PA, Elizabethtown) also contributed two shots, including one on goal.

Mount Aloysius remained aggressive offensively, recording eight shots and three corner kicks in the opening 45 minutes. The Mounties continued to push forward in the second half, creating additional opportunities as they looked to cut into the deficit.

Hilbert added two second-half goals to secure the 5-1 victory, but the Mounties continued competing through the final whistle. Mount Aloysius finished the afternoon with 12 shots, including three on goal, and four corner kicks, holding a 4-2 advantage in corner opportunities.

Defensively, McKenna Meadows (Lewisburg, PA, Lewisburg) played all 90 minutes in goal, recording three saves for the Mounties. The team also limited Hilbert to just seven second-half shots while continuing to search for scoring opportunities of its own.

With the result, Mount Aloysius moves to 1-9-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Mounties will look to build on their offensive opportunities and continue developing as they move forward in their 2026 conference schedule. They take on Pitt-Greensburg at home on Tuesday at 3:00pm.
