Mounties Women's Soccer Celebrates Senior Day with Scoreless Draw Against La Roche

CRESSON, Pa. — The Mount Aloysius College women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday, October 17, battling La Roche University to a 0-0 draw at Kelly Field. The Mounties delivered a strong defensive performance while creating numerous scoring opportunities throughout the afternoon, earning a conference point on a special day for the program.

Before the match, Mount Aloysius honored its senior class, recognizing the dedication, leadership, and commitment of the players who have helped shape the women's soccer program. Senior Day provided an opportunity to celebrate their contributions both on and off the field, highlighting the lasting impact they have made during their time as Mounties.

The Mounties came out with energy in the opening half, generating several early opportunities in the attacking third. Abby Bell (Hollidaysburg, Pa., Hollidaysburg) recorded an early shot before Sara Borlie (Kennett Square, Pa., Unionville) forced a save from the La Roche goalkeeper in the 10th minute.

Mount Aloysius continued to apply pressure, with Bell testing the goalkeeper again in the 13th minute. Abigail Solano (Spencerport, N.Y., Spencerport) also contributed to the offensive effort, placing a shot on target late in the first half. Despite several opportunities, the match remained scoreless heading into halftime.

The Mounties returned from the break determined to find the go-ahead goal. Borlie led the offensive attack, generating multiple scoring chances early in the second half. Her shot in the 49th minute forced another save, while Solano added an attempt moments later.

Mount Aloysius continued to control stretches of the offensive action, outshooting La Roche 9-6 in the second half. Borlie remained a consistent threat, creating several additional opportunities as the Mounties searched for a breakthrough.

The Mounties' defensive unit was equally impressive throughout the contest, preventing La Roche from finding the back of the net. McKenna Meadows (Lewisburg, PA, Lewisburg) played all 90 minutes in goal, recording three saves to secure the shutout.

Offensively, Borlie led Mount Aloysius with a game-high seven shots, including three on goal. Bell added three shots, while Solano contributed two attempts, including one on target. Erin Stoltzfus (Elizabethtown, PA, Elizabethtown) also recorded a shot as the Mounties finished with a 13-8 advantage in total shots.

The Mounties also held La Roche to just three shots on goal, showcasing a disciplined defensive effort that helped preserve the scoreless draw.

While neither team found the winning goal, the afternoon represented more than just the final result. Senior Day served as a celebration of the Mount Aloysius senior class and the dedication they have shown throughout their collegiate careers. Their leadership, perseverance, and commitment to the program have helped establish a foundation for the team's future.

With the draw, Mount Aloysius moves to 1-10-2 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play. The Mounties will look to build on their strong defensive performance as they continue their 2026 conference schedule.
