Women's Soccer Faces Tough Test Against Nationally Ranked Lions

ERIE, Pa. - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team faced a tough road test Wednesday evening, falling 8-0 to No. 20 nationally ranked Penn State Behrend at Behrend Stadium. The Lions improved to 12-0-3 overall and 5-0-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play, while the Mounties moved to 1-11-2 overall and 1-3-1 in conference action.

Penn State Behrend struck early, finding the back of the net just 1:18 into the contest before adding another goal in the seventh minute to take a 2-0 lead. The Mounties worked to settle in defensively, but the Lions added two more goals late in the first half to carry a 4-0 advantage into the break.

The Lions continued their offensive pressure in the second half, scoring three times before adding a late goal in the 86th minute to round out the scoring.

Mount Aloysius goalkeeper McKenna Meadows (Lewisburg, PA, Lewisburg) recorded 11 saves against a relentless Behrend attack that generated 32 shots, including 19 on target. The Mounties continued to battle defensively throughout the contest against one of the nation's top-ranked teams.

The Mounties will look to bounce back on Saturday, Oct. 24, when they host Pitt-Bradford (1-8-4, 0-3-2 AMCC) at 1 p.m. in a crucial matchup with significant playoff implications. With just two regular-season games remaining, Mount Aloysius will look to secure valuable conference points as it continues its push for an AMCC playoff berth.

The Mounties have historically enjoyed success against the Panthers, holding an 8-4 all-time record in the series. Mount Aloysius has not lost to Pitt-Bradford since Oct. 22, 2016, and will look to extend that streak to nearly a decade when the teams meet Saturday.
