March 23, 2026 - The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports men's volleyball, baseball, tennis, and women's lacrosse and softball for the period running from March 16-22, 2026.
On the softball side, two of the biggest names in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference lived up to the hype this week, as Jessica Koptcho (Mountain Top, Pa., Crestwood) and Sarah Henninger (DuBois, Pa., DuBois) swept the league's weekly honors.
Koptcho earned Pitcher of the Week after a dominant stretch in the circle, highlighted by a historic performance against SUNY Poly. The senior right-hander tossed a complete-game no-hitter in a 3-0 victory, striking out 13 while issuing just three walks. The outing marked the first no-hitter of her collegiate career and further solidified her status as one of the conference's top arms.
The preseason Pitcher of the Year put together a stellar overall week, going 2-1 with two complete games. Across 17 innings, Koptcho posted a 1.24 ERA and racked up 23 strikeouts, while limiting opposing hitters to just seven total hits. She currently ranks first in the AMCC in strikeouts (33) and sits third in ERA at 2.84.
On the offensive side, Henninger captured Player of the Week honors following an explosive showing at the plate last week. The preseason Player of the Year hit a blistering .556 (15-for-27), leading the Mounties with eight runs scored and six RBIs (Cutri also had six) this week. A consistent force in the lineup, Henninger recorded a hit in every game and delivered multiple multi-hit performances throughout the week.
Her standout moment came in a dominant showing against Maine-Presque Isle, where she went 4-for-5 with five RBIs. She added another four-hit performance during the week and showcased her extra-base ability with three triples and a double, anchoring the Mounties' offense from the shortstop position.
Behind the standout efforts of their two preseason award winners, Mount Aloysius looks to carry momentum forward as they turn toward conference play. The Mounties currently sit at 4-10 on the season and will open AMCC action this Saturday against Pitt-Bradford in their home opener. First pitch will be at 1:00 pm at the Softball Field.
