Erie, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's tennis team saw its 2026 campaign come to a close on Saturday evening, falling 4-0 to Penn State Altoona in the AMCC Semifinals at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie.
Penn State Altoona gained early control in doubles play, taking two of the three courts to claim the opening point. The second doubles pairing of
Noah Noel (Cresson, Pa., Penn Cambria) and
Cole Taylor (Bedford, PA, Bedford HS / St Francis University) dropped a 6-1 decision, while the third doubles slot resulted in a walkover for the Lions. The first doubles duo of
Tristen Ruffley (Bedford, Pa., Bedford) and
Colin Gable showed fight, trailing 5-1 before their match was halted.
In singles action, the Lions continued their momentum, clinching the match with straight-set victories at the third and fourth positions. Noel fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, while Taylor was defeated 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Several other flights remained competitive but unfinished, including strong efforts from Ruffley and Gable at the top two spots.
Freshman Colin Gable highlighted the postseason for the Mounties, earning All-Tournament Team honors for his performance during today's match.
With the loss, the Mounties conclude their 2026 campaign with a 4-8 record.
