Fritch Paces Mounties in 2026 Women’s Golf Opener

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – The Mount Aloysius College women's golf team officially opened its 2026 season on Saturday, competing at the Westminster Fall Invitational at Avalon Field Club at New Castle.

The Mounties finished fifth as a team with a score of 498, while Chloe Fritch (Chicora, Pa., Karns City) paced the squad with an impressive sixth-place individual finish.

Fritch carded a round of 91 (+20), placing sixth among the 38 golfers competing in the event. She put together a strong opening-round performance, recording six pars and two birdies on her way to leading the Mounties. Fritch also posted a 3.50 scoring average on par-3 holes and a 5.45 average on par-4s.

Behind Fritch, Ava Iapalucci (Altoona, Pa., Bishop Guilfoyle) finished with a 130 (+59), while Belle Lint (Scottdale, Pa., Southmoreland) carded a 135 (+64). Taryn Carruthers (Altoona, Pa., Bishop Guilfoyle) rounded out the Mounties' scoring lineup with a 142 (+71).

As a team, Mount Aloysius recorded two birdies during the opening round, both coming from Fritch. The Mounties also totaled seven pars.

Westminster claimed the team title with a score of 357, edging Grove City by five strokes. Westminster's K.R. Rankin and Grove City's Lauren Kardos shared medalist honors after each carding an 80.

With the season officially underway, the Mounties will look to build on Saturday's performance as they continue their fall schedule. Next up for women's golf is the Toftrees Invitational hosted by Penn State Altoona on Sunday, September 13th. Shotgun is at 10:30 AM at the Toftrees Golf Resort in State College, Pa.
