NEW CASTLE, Pa. - The Mount Aloysius College men's golf B team began the 2026 season Monday, tying for second place at the Westminster Fall Invitational at Avalon Field Club.

The Mounties carded a team score of 323 (+35) to finish tied with Geneva and just 17 strokes behind team champion and AMCC foe Pitt-Bradford, which posted a 306 (+18). Mount Aloysius finished ahead of nine other teams in the 14-team field, including Pitt-Greensburg, Grove City, Westminster and Saint Vincent.

Patrick McDonald (Hummelstown, Pa., Lower Dauphin) led the way for the Mounties, firing a 79 (+7) to finish tied for 12th overall. McDonald was followed by a pair of Mounties who each posted an 80 (+8), as Filip Dahl (Jessheim, Norway, Hvam Videregaande Skole) and Jayvien Brumbaugh (Mount Union, Pa., Mount Union) tied for 17th place.

Louie Van De Velde (Punta De Mita, Mexico, Altitude Academies) finished fourth for Mount Aloysius with an 84 (+12), tying for 31st overall, while Owen Thompson (Gibsonia, PA, Pine-Richland High School) rounded out the Mounties' scoring lineup with a 90 (+18).

Mount Aloysius also had two individuals compete outside of the team lineup. Eugenio Sousa (Benito Juarez, Mexico, The Learning Club) turned in a strong 79 (+7) to tie for 12th overall, while Luke Sands (Stockholm, Sweden, Upplands-bro Gymnasium) carded a 92 (+20).

The Mounties' 323 was tied for the second-lowest team score of the tournament, as Mount Aloysius opened the season with a top-two team finish.

Men's golf will look to build on Monday's performance as the 2026 season continues this Saturday at Wooster College, where the A and B teams will compete at the Gatorade Collegiate Classic in Wooster, Ohio.
