Cross Country Competes at Juniata Eagle Invite

REEDSVILLE, Pa. - The Mount Aloysius College men's and women's cross country teams returned to action Saturday morning at the Juniata College Eagle Invite, competing at Indian Valley Elementary School.

The Mountie women placed fifth as a team with a score of 117 points, finishing behind Juniata, Penn State Altoona, Penn State Harrisburg and Penn College. Mount Aloysius recorded a team time of 2:23:31, averaging 28:43 per runner.

Senior Kayle Strayer (Saint Michael, Pa., Forest Hills) led the way for the Mounties, finishing 23rd overall with a time of 26:28.0. Anna Resig (Altoona, Pa., Altoona Area) followed in 25th at 27:57.7, while Madison Cowfer (Altoona, Pa., Altoona Area) crossed the finish line 26th overall in 28:09.2.

Jasmine Vanmale (Beaverdale, Pa., Forest Hills) was next for Mount Aloysius, placing 27th in 30:00.6, followed by Tiffany Plows (Windber, Pa., PA Cyber) in 30th at 30:55.4. Abigail Lenhard (Duncansville, Pa., Liberty University Online) (32:17.8) and Shannon Shaffer (South Fork, Pa., Forest Hills) (33:20.2) rounded out the Mounties' scoring runners. Alexis Gonzalez (Portage, Pa., PA Cyber) and Jazmine Boyle (Sidman, Pa., Forest Hills) also competed for Mount Aloysius.

On the men's side, Troy Tinch (Baltimore, Md., Calvert Hall) paced the Mounties in the 6-kilometer race, finishing 36th overall with a time of 27:53.1.

Next Up

Cross Country has a long break incoming, with their next meet coming on Friday, September 25. They'll travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. for the La Roche Invitational, hosted by AMCC foe La Roche University. The time for the meet is TBD.
