CRESSON, Pa. — The Mount Aloysius College women's soccer team continued to compete through 90 minutes Tuesday evening, falling to Mount Union, 4-0, at Kelly Field.
Despite the final score, goalkeeper Katie Scott (Mineral Point, Pa. , Central Cambria) turned in a standout performance for the Mounties, making 16 saves on the evening. Scott kept Mount Aloysius within reach throughout the contest, making 10 saves in the opening half before adding six more stops after halftime.
Mount Union opened the scoring in the 14th minute, but the Mounties continued to battle defensively. Scott made a series of saves throughout the opening half.
The Mounties continued to compete in the second half, with their defensive effort highlighted by Scott's continued work in goal. Mount Aloysius also generated opportunities of its own, earning a corner kick and registering a pair of shots during the contest. Abby Bell (Hollidaysburg, Pa., Hollidaysburg) and Victoria Haroldson (Sharpsville, Pa., Sharpsville) each recorded a shot for the Mounties.
Mount Union added three goals in the second half, but Mount Aloysius continued to fight through the final whistle. The Mounties earned their lone corner kick of the match in the 77th minute and continued to pressure forward during the closing stages.
Mount Aloysius finished the night with two total shots while Scott's 16 saves marked a strong individual effort against a Mount Union attack that recorded 33 shots. The Mounties also committed just nine fouls while continuing to battle throughout the match.
The Mounties will look to build on the effort as they continue their 2026 season and prepare for their next opportunity on the pitch on Saturday against Carlow at home. Kickoff is at 3:30 PM.
