YOUNGWOOD, Pa. - The Mount Aloysius College men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2026 season Friday evening at the Westmoreland County Community College Invitational, with the Mounties competing against a strong field at Westmoreland County Community College.

The Mount Aloysius women finished fifth as a team with 120 points, led by senior Madison Cowfer (Altoona, Pa., Altoona Area), who paced the Mounties with a 22nd-place finish and a time of 29:59.6.

Sophomore Anna Resig (Altoona, Pa., Altoona Area) followed closely behind, crossing the finish line in 25th place with a time of 30:40.0. Freshman Jasmine Vanmale (Beaverdale, Pa., Forest Hills) was next for the Mounties, finishing 29th overall in 32:44.8.

Freshman Tiffany Plows (Windber, Pa., PA Cyber) recorded a time of 33:59.6 to finish 30th, while fellow freshman Abigail Lenhard (Duncansville, Pa., Liberty University Online) placed 32nd in 35:16.0.

Senior Shannon Shaffer (South Fork, Pa., Forest Hills) finished 35th overall with a time of 36:31.8, followed by sophomore Jazmine Boyle (Sidman, Pa., Forest Hills) in 37th at 38:27.8. Freshman Alexis Gonzalez (Portage, Pa., PA Cyber) rounded out the Mounties' competitors, finishing 38th in 38:53.1.

On the men's side, freshman Ryland Corl (Williamsburg, Pa., Williamsburg) made an impressive collegiate debut, leading Mount Aloysius with a 12th-place finish. Corl crossed the finish line in 20:31.3, placing him among the top 15 runners in the field.

Junior Troy Tinch (Baltimore, Md., Calvert Hall) was the second Mountie across the line, finishing 23rd overall with a time of 22:21.1.

The Mounties will look to build on their opening performances as they continue the 2026 cross country season.
