Kaleigh Roop will start her first season as the Head Softball Coach for Mount Aloysius College.
Roop previously coached at Sarah Lawrence College. Roop led a young Gryphons (2022-2023) roster for her first season as a head coach to a two five-inning victories over Yeshiva at Fordham University. Under Roop's guidance, first-year Shirin Pechefsky improved over the course of the season, rounding out the season with a career-best 12-strikeout performance against St. Joseph's (L.I.). In year two at SLC (2023-2024), Roop saw Pechefsky's continued development while senior Anna Brand turned in the best year of her career offensively. The team rallied for a pair of home victories over Yeshiva with Pechefsky earning the win in both ends of the doubleheader.
Before Roop joined the SLC Gryphons, she spent the previous 3 seasons (2019-2022) at William Woods University as the assistant softball coach. During her tenure with the Owls, she worked with hitters, outfielders, catchers, and infielders.
Over the 3 seasons, Roop coached the team to 52-59 in her tenure and an automatic bid to the NAIA Nationals Opening Round in Oklahoma (2022). Last year she helped the Owls finish 2nd in the AMC and 22-25 on the season (2021-2022).
Roop was the assistant softball coach at University of Minnesota- Duluth for the 2019 season. During her tenure with the Bulldogs, she worked with the catchers and outfielders.
Over the one season, Roop coached the team to a 33-20 season and an at-large bid into the NCAA DII Central Region Regional Tournament (2019).
Prior to joining the Bulldogs coaching staff, Roop spent two seasons as the Head JV Softball Coach at Revere High School in Richfield, Ohio. During her time with the Minutemen, she helped field a JV team to winning seasons. She worked with the catchers, hitters, outfielders, and infielders at the Varsity level. First season on the staff, she helped the Minutemen to a Runner up finish in the Semi Regionals in OHSAA Tournament.
Roop got her coaching career started at her alma mater, Archbishop Hoban High School, as the Head Freshman Girls Basketball Coach. She continued to coach the Knights for next two seasons as a JV Assistant coach and a Varsity Assistant coach.
Prior to her coaching career, Roop was a two sport collegiate athlete at Mount Aloysius College. She played basketball and softball in a combined 262 games in her four years as a Mountie, and participated in 6 AMCC Playoffs and advanced to play in championships 2 times. Her senior year she Led the NCAA III Softball in HBP with 19 in 39 games and she is currently in the NCAA Softball record book. In 2016, senior year, she received MVP from Women’s Basketball Team and Female Athlete of the Year. In 2017 Roop was honored to be on the All Decade Team as the Designated Hitter.
Coach Roop attended Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio. There she played both basketball and softball. Her senior year she received Honorable Mention in the NCL for Basketball and Softball, she also helped coach and play with the softball team to Semi Regionals in the OHSAA Tournament her senior year.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Specialization in Sports Management from Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, Pa. (2016). She received her master's degree in Coaching Education from Ohio University in 2021.
