Leanne Cardoso-Bastos was named an assistant women's soccer coach at Mount Aloysius in June 2019.
Cardoso-Bastos joins the Mounties coaching staff after finishing up a four-year playing career for the Mounties last fall. She appeared in 50 games over the course of her career for the Mounties, highlighted by a 2017 season in which she earned AMCC First Team All-Conference selection at the goalkeeper position. In 2017, Cardoso-Bastos led all conference goalkeepers with a 1.02 goals against average and was second with a .845 save percentage while playing every minute for the Mounties. She allowed only two goals in the Mounties final five conference matches, and made 105 saves on the season while setting a program record with nine shutouts as the Mounties reached the AMCC Semifinals.
During her senior season, Cardoso-Bastos served as a team captain while helping to lead the Mounties to their first AMCC Championship game appearance in program history.
Cardoso-Bastos was also a four-year member of the Mountie softball team, which won back-to-back AMCC Championships in her junior and senior seasons. In the 2016 season, Cardoso-Bastos was a First Team All-Conference selection in the outfield.
A Hillside, New Jersey native, Cardoso-Bastos arrived at Mount Aloysius from David Brearley High School where she was a three-sport athlete. She was a Union County All-Valley Division Goalkeeper for three consecutive seasons and was a team captain as a senior. Cardoso-Bastos has previous coaching experience with the Union Soccer Club as a goalkeeper coach.
Cardoso-Bastos graduated from Mount Aloysius in May of 2019 with a degree in Biology. She will be pursuing her master's in business administration from the college.
Cardoso-Bastos will coach the team's goalkeepers while also focusing on recruiting for the Mounties.
