Matt Davis enters his second season back as head coach of the Mount Aloysius College men's soccer program in 2026 after returning to the Mounties in April 2025.
In his first season back on the sidelines, Davis guided the Mounties to an appearance in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship match. Mount Aloysius earned one of the program's biggest postseason victories in recent memory, upsetting top-seeded Penn State Behrend in the conference semifinals to advance to the championship game. The team finished with an overall record of 12-6-3 and two players earned All-Region honors.
Davis spent the prior three seasons as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa. During his time at Saint Vincent, he mentored six All-PAC performers, while also leading the Bearcats to their best single season since 2014 and their best two-year stretch since 2008-09.
Before arriving at Saint Vincent, Davis served three years as an assistant at Williams College. While also serving as the recruiting coordinator, he was involved in all aspects of the program. Davis helped the Ephs qualify for the NESCAC postseason twice. In 2019, Williams was ranked #7 in the NCAA New England Regional Rankings, while the team produced one All-American and CoSIDA Academic All-American, as well as three All-New England Region honorees.
Davis is the all-time winningest coach in Mount Aloysius Soccer history, for both men's and women's programs, as he coached both teams beginning in January 2014 until his departure for Williams in August of 2019. During his first five seasons on the Mount Aloysius sidelines, Davis accumulated a 61-33-6 record on the men's side and a 52-37-5 record on the women's side. In his five seasons, 29 men's players and 23 women's players earned All-Conference honors while nine total players earned Great Lakes All-Region accolades.Â
The 2018 season was a historical one for the women's program as the team won a program record 14 games and advanced to the AMCC Championship Game for the first time ever. The Mounties reached the United Soccer Coaches Great Lakes Regional rankings and remained there for six consecutive weeks as the team started the season with a 15-game unbeaten streak. The men's program went 15-4-1 overall including a record 13-game winning streak, and a record 9 men's players were named to the AMCC All-Conference Team at the conclusion of the season.
During the 2017 campaign, Davis led the men's program to a school-record 16 victories, ten shutouts and their fourth consecutive AMCC playoff berth during his tenure as head coach (and fifth consecutive playoff berth overall). The women's side matched the school mark set in 2016 with 12 victories while advancing to the AMCC Playoffs and conference semifinals for the second consecutive season.
In the 2016 season, Davis led the women's soccer program to a school-record 12 victories, eight shutouts and their first ever AMCC playoff berth. The Mounties reached the AMCC Semifinals and had two players selected to the United Soccer Coaches Great Lakes All-Region team for the second consecutive season. On the men's side, the team won 10 games and clinched their fourth consecutive AMCC playoff berth.
Davis' second season at the helm of the men's program in 2015 was a banner year. The Mounties won their first ever AMCC regular season and postseason championships as Mount Aloysius won 12 
games on their way to the first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history. Davis was named the AMCC Coach of the Year and seven players earned All-Conference accolades, including the first ever AMCC Defensive Player of the Year and first ever AMCC Newcomer of the Year for the men's soccer team. The Mounties also received votes in the United Soccer Coaches Great Lakes regional poll for the first time in program history.
In his first season as head coach in the fall of 2014, Davis led the men's program to the AMCC playoffs and AMCC Tournament Semifinals for the second consecutive season as the team won eight games. The women's program won seven games and recorded five shutouts on the defensive end. Four men's players and two women's players were named to the All-Conference Team at the conclusion of the season.
A graduate of Albright College in Reading, Pa, Davis was a four-year starter and two-year captain on defense and in the midfield for the Lions. In 2010, Davis helped lead Albright to their first nine-win season in over a decade and was named a CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine College Division All-District Second Team selection.
Davis was a three-time honoree on the Middle Atlantic Conference Honor Roll for student-athletes. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Albright with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Communications.
A native of Glenside, Pa, Davis attended Bishop McDevitt High School, where he was a four-year starter, three-time All-Catholic League player, and two-year captain for the Lancers. During his senior season, he led the program to the most victories in school history as well as a spot in the Philadelphia Catholic League playoffs.
Davis completed his master's degree from Mount Aloysius in Business Administration (MBA) in May of 2014 with a focus on Project Management.
Davis is a member of the United Soccer Coaches organization. He has earned his National Diploma as well as Level I and II Goalkeeping Diplomas. Additionally, he has served on the Division III Men's Soccer Regional Advisory Committee for the Great Lakes Region.
