Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius College women's basketball team suffered their first defeat of the year against La Roche College by a score of 88-78. 

The Redhawks came in undefeated and as the pre-season favorite to win the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference title. The Mounties gave them all they could handle. At halftime the score was 40-36 for the Redhawks as the Mounties held them to 36% shooting. By 16:41 left in the second half, the Mounties led by as much as three points.

However, the Redhawks' high-pressure defense was too much in the end as they scored 37 points off turnovers. 

Becky Bard led all scorers with 27 points. Lindsy Sammarco chipped in with 10 points, nine assists and six rebounds. Five scorers in double digits paced the Redhawks.  LaShauna Brothers led their charge with 19 points. Sabrina McLin and Danasha Harris added 16 and 14 off the bench, respectively.

The Mounties next play Saturday, December 14 at 3 pm in the new Athletic Convocation and Wellness Center against out-of-conference foe Eastern Mennonite.
