Box Score Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team lost their first game of the season 72-66 on their home court on Thursday evening to Bridgewater College in non-conference action.
Tanner Thomas continued his outstanding play with 20 points and 18 rebounds, including eight rebounds on the offensive glass. Thomas shot 9-for-13 from the field.
Nolan Doyle registered 18 points, four assists and three steals, while
Arin Wade and
Dillon Bender both finished in double figures with 12 points. Bender added seven rebounds on the defensive end.
The Mounties started strong throughout the first half and led by eight points after a Doyle free throw with 5:09 left on the clock. Bridgewater chipped away and cut the deficit to 29-26 heading into the half. The visitors then took the lead a few minutes into the second half of play and led by as much as six points before the Mounties took the lead at 54-53 with 5:55 to play. The visitors then went on another run and took a ten-point lead with 2:55 on the clock, and the Mounties couldn't recover down the stretch.
Mount Aloysius shot just 25-for-72 (34.7%) from the field in the loss. Bridgewater was paced by 27 points from Aaron Adams and 19 points and 10 rebounds from Ed Reddick.
Mount Aloysius returns to action with another home game on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Grove City College.
