Men's Basketball Drops La Roche

Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team received a 30-point effort from Arin Wade and defeated visiting La Roche College by a final score of 81-74 in AMCC action on Wednesday evening.

Wade shot 9-for-14 from the field and 7-for-11 from three-point range as he dropped in a season-high 30 points while adding six rebounds. Dillon Bender scored 18 points, including a clutch three-point shot with with 19 seconds left in the game to seal it for the Mounties. Tanner Thomas and Nolan Doyle both finished in double figures with 10 points apiece, while Thomas grabbed seven boards and Doyle dished seven assists.

After the game was tied at 26-26 with 4:11 to go in the first half, the Mounties embarked on a 10-0 run capped by a Wade triple to make it a 36-26 ballgame with 2:40 to go. Mount Aloysius took a five-point lead into halftime.

The two sides traded the lead throughout the second half, and Drew Knowles tied things up with a layup with 3:51 to go. Wade hit two free throws with 3:22 left to give the Mount a 74-72 lead, and Doyle added a three-point shot with 2:47 remaining to increase the lead to five. After La Roche cut the deficit to three, Bender drilled his triple then Doyle came up with a steal on the defensive end to close out the game.

The Mounties shot 26-for-52 (50%) from the field and 10-for-20 from behind the arc.

Mount Aloysius moves to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play. They are back in action on Saturday with a road contest at Medaille at 3 p.m.
