Mavericks Knock Off Mounties

Buffalo, NY - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team was defeated by Medaille College by a score of 82-72 on Saturday afternoon on the road.

Tanner Thomas shot 10-for-13 from the floor to finish with 20 points while adding six rebounds. Nolan Doyle also finished in double figures with 10 points, while Tre Brown (eight points, ten rebounds) and Joe Dziabo (eight points, seven rebounds) provided solid contributions off the Mountie bench.

Medaille jumped out to an early 17-8 advantage just over nine minutes into the ballgame. The Mavericks eventually increased the lead to as much as 13 before a 7-0 run to end the half by Mount Aloysius cut the deficit to 34-28 heading into the halftime break.

The Mavericks kept hanging on to their advantage as the Mounties cut the deficit to four points on three different occassions down the stretch in the second half. However, after Chad Eisenhuth hit two free throws to make it a 61-57 game with 4:59 to play, Medaille went on a 9-0 run that Mount Aloysius couldn't overcome in the final moments.

Jammal Coleman led the Mavericks with 26 points, while Chris Willingham added 15 points.

The Mounties return to the court on Monday with a 6 p.m. home contest against Lancaster Bible College before heading to California for games on Wednesday and Thursday.
