Women's Basketball Defeated at Medaille

Buffalo, NY - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team struggled on the offensive end of the floor as host Medaille defeated the Mounties by a final score of 73-49 on Saturday afternoon in AMCC action.

Mount Aloysius shot just 16-for-57 (28.1%) from the floor and also struggled at the free throw line as they made just 13 of 27 free throw attempts.

The Mounties jumped on the host Mavericks early on and led by nine points at 17-8 on a Sydney Horel layup. The Mavericks responded by gradually chipping away and tying the game at 25-25 with 4:45 remaining in the first half. The game was tied 30-30 before a quick 7-2 spurt gave Medaille a five-point halftime advantage.

Mount Aloysius kept the deficit to single digits until 11:20 remaining in the second half when Medaille increased their lead to ten points. The Mavericks continued to push the advantage throughout the remainder of the ballgame to take the conference victory.

Kaleigh Roop recorded a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Mounties, while Olivia Rupp scored a team-high 13 points off the bench. Abby Kulick also finished in double figures with 10 points. Rupp and Kulick each added five rebounds.

The Mounties fall to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play. They return to action on Monday with a home non-conference game against Chatham University at 3 p.m.
