Women's Basketball Wins Third Straight

Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team won their third game in a row and second straight conference game with a 67-49 victory over visiting Hilbert College on Saturday afternoon in the Athletic Convocation & Wellness Center.

Sophomore Abbie Zinobile led the Mounties once again with 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting while adding a game-high 14 rebounds, including six rebounds on the offensive glass. Olivia Rupp came off the bench to deposit 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting, while Morgan Brosnihan and Alexis Restori combined for nine steals on the defensive end.

After Hilbert led early on, the Mounties went on a 9-0 run capped by two free throws from Lauren Gross to take a 26-15 lead with 6:02 to play in the first half. The Mounties maintained the advantage with an eight-point halftime lead, and pushed their advantage to 41-26 with 12:01 to go in the second half after Abby Kulick drilled a three-point shot. Mount Aloysius comfortably maintained their double-digit advantage for the rest of the game on their way to the victory.

The Mounties continued their strong play on the defensive end as they forced 22 turnovers and limited Hilbert to 18-for-63 shooting from the field. Mount Aloysius held a significant advantage in the rebounding department, as they outrebounded the Hawks 48-29.

The Mounties now stand at 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in AMCC action. They will return to the court Wednesday when they will host defending AMCC champion La Roche College at 6 p.m.
