Box Score Steubenville, OH - The Mount Aloysius College men's basketball team ran out to a 53-33 halftime lead en route to defeating Franciscan 92-72 on the road in AMCC action on Wednesday evening.
The Mounties used a balanced scoring attack while shooting an efficient 35-for-69 (50.7%) from the field and 11-for-26 (42.3%) from behind the arc.
Shawn Greenfield led the Mount attack with 30 points, including a 6-for-10 clip from three-point range, and added four steals.
Dillon Bender (13),
Dameon Turner (13),
Jake Wyatt (12) and
Tanner Thomas (10) finished in double figures. Wyatt shot 6-for-6 from the field while grabbing seven boards.
Davario Barksdale led the team with ten rebounds, and
Nolan Doyle dished a team-high five assists.
After a dominant first half, Mount Aloysius took its largest lead of the game on a Thomas layup with 14 minutes to go that provided a 65-38 advantage. Franciscan got no closer than 16 points down the stretch as the Mounties eased to victory.
With the win, Mount Aloysius improves to 8-9 in conference and 11-12 overall. They have their regular season finale on Saturday at 1 p.m. against D'Youville. The Mounties will need a victory and a La Roche loss against Hilbert to earn a playoff spot in the upcoming AMCC tournament.
