Greenfield Leads Mounties to Crucial Win

Greenfield poured in 35 points in the victory

Pittsburgh, PA - Led by 35 points from Shawn Greenfield, the Mount Aloysius men's basketball team defeated La Roche 73-66 in AMCC action on Thursday evening on the road.

Greenfield shot 12-for-18 from the field and 5-for-9 from three-point range to spearhead Mount Aloysius on the offensive end. He also added four rebounds.

In a 32-32 first half, Greenfield kept the Mounties in the game with 18 points, including a 4-for-5 clip from three point range. La Roche led 26-19 with 5:47 to go in the half before the Mounties went on a 13-6 run capped by a Tanner Thomas free throw to tie the game heading into the break.

The Mounties held a nine-point lead on a Nolan Doyle layup with just over five minutes to play in the game. La Roche cut the deficit to three with 1:58 to play, but Greenfield responded with a lay-in and four made free throws to wrap up up the victory.

Dameon Turner added eight points and five rebounds for the Mounties, who shot 28-for-54 (52 percent) from the field and 9-for-18 from behind the arc.

Mount Aloysius improves to 9-10 overall and 6-7 in conference play heading into Saturday's home contest against Hilbert.
