Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4

Myrtle Beach, SC - The Mount Aloysius baseball team's spring trip to Myrtle Beach was highlighted by the Mounties winning their first three games with a doubleheader sweep of Ursinus College followed by a 7-1 victory over Kings College.

Against Ursinus in game one, Derrick Capiak recorded his first win of the season as he threw a complete game while allowing two hits and striking out eight hitters. The Mounties got going offensively in the latter stages of the game as Joshua Bonatesta drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single in the sixth. Patrick Gully singled in two more in the sixth inning to make it 3-0, and Dylan Oswalt drove in two more in the seventh to provide some breathing room for Capiak, as he held off Ursinus in the bottom of the inning for a 5-3 victory.

In the second game against Ursinus, Benjamin Legath got the call on the mound and matched Capiak with a complete-game effort while allowing seven hits and striking out six. Connor Bowie went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the first inning. Brock Gladfelter broke a 3-3 tie in the fourth inning with a single that brought in two, and Legath shut down Ursinus in the final two innings in a 8-4 win.

The Mounties followed that up on day two with a third consecutive strong pitching effort, this time from Daniel Resavy. Resavy pitched eight innings against Kings and struck out eight hitters in the 7-1 victory. Offensively, the Mounties scored all seven of their runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to break open the ballgame.

After their hot start, the Mounties fell in their final five games of the trip, including a 22-14 loss in a slugfest against Mount Saint Mary College (NY) and a 6-5 loss in 12 innings against Stevens Institute of Technology.

The Mounties return to action on Saturday with a home doubleheader at Point Stadium in Johnstown against Keuka College.
