Johnstown, PA - The Mount Aloysius baseball team dropped two 4-2 decisions to Gettysburg on Saturday afternoon as part of a doubleheader at Point Stadium in Johnstown.
In game one, Gettysburg scored the first three runs of the game in the top of the third inning before the Mounties responded in the bottom of the inning.
Connor Bowie tripled in
Brock Gladfelter and ended up scoring on an error to make it a 3-2 ballgame. Gettysburg held on for the victory late, however, as the Mounties were held to six hits. Bowie went 3-for-5 from the leadoff spot, while
Derrick Capiak was handed the loss after allowing one earned run in 6.1 innings pitched.
In game two, the Mounties jumped out to a 2-0 advantage as
Dylan Oswalt had an RBI triple in the second and
Ian Helsel recorded a sacrifice fly in the third inning. The Mounties held onto the 2-0 lead until the seventh inning, when Gettysburg scored two runs to tie the game. In the next frame, the visitors added two more runs to take the lead. The Mounties could only muster one hit in the final two innings as Gettysburg took the doubleheader sweep.
Benjamin Legath took the hill in game two as he allowed two earned runs in 6.2 innings on the mound while striking out seven.
Patrick Gully and
Jesse Bortner each had two hits at the plate.
The Mounties return to action on Tuesday with a home doubleheader against Bethany.
