Mount Baseball Splits with Greensburg

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Greensburg, PA - Following a tough walkoff loss in game one, the Mount Aloysius baseball team responded with a 9-6 victory in game two to take a doubleheader split against Pitt-Greensburg in AMCC action on Thursday afternoon.

In game one, the Mount's Daniel Resavy kept Greensburg at bay in a pitcher's duel between the two sides. In six innings of work, he allowed just two hits and no runs. Offensively, the Mounties hit the board in the top of the fourth on an RBI double from Connor Bowie that scored Ian Helsel to make it a 1-0 ballgame.

Resavy held Greensburg off the board until the final inning when ace Derrick Capiak came in for the close. After recording one out, the home side managed a single and a walk before both runners advanced. With runners on second and third, Greenburg's Anthony Maroadi knocked a single that scored two to end the game in walkoff fashion.

The Mount responded in game two by posting five runs in their first two-at bats. Greensburg, however, responded with six runs in the first two frames to take a 6-5 lead early on. The game settled down until the Mount dropped four runs in the top of the sixth inning. The highlight of the inning was a double by Benjamin Legath that brought in three runs before Legath would score on a sacrifice fly courtesy of Cory Dick.

Holding a 9-6 lead, the Mount's Brady Wright shut down Greensburg in the final two innings to enable the visitors to register an important conference win. Wright threw six innings in relief, surrending nine hits while keeping Greensburg off the board.

In game two, Legath went 2-for-3 with three RBI's, and Dick managed two RBI's. Helsel, Bryn Brown and Bowie all crossed the plate twice for Mount Aloysius.

The Mounties move to 6-2 in AMCC play and 13-14 overall.
