Marietta, OH - After falling by a score of 4-0 in game one, the Mount Aloysius baseball team registered a huge victory by a score of 5-4 in game two against Marietta College on Wednesday afternoon on the road. Marietta, which came into the game ranked #11 in the country, won the 2011 and 2012 NCAA Division III National Championship.

In game one, the Mounties fell into a 2-0 hole after the third inning. The visitors stayed close, but Marietta added two more in the sixth inning to open up the game and take the win. Tyghe Bowers and Rodney Patterson each threw three innings on the hill for the Mounties, and both allowed two earned runs. Offensively, Connor Bowie produced two hits.

In game two, the Mounties were down 1-0 before a three-run inning in the top of the fourth. Patrick Gully drove home the first run of the at-bat with a fielder's choice, and Dylan Oswalt followed up with an RBI single to give the Mounties the lead. With the bases loaded, Ian Helsel was hit by a pitch to make it 3-1.

Both sides hit the scoreboard in the fifth inning, and after six innings of play the score was tied 4-4. Benjamin Legath registered a single with one out in the seventh. After a Cory Dick sacrifice bunt, Legath scored on a single from Jesse Bortner after the Marietta pitcher was high on a throw to first. In the bottom of the inning, Daniel Resavy allowed a two-out hit, but recorded a ground-out to end the ballgame.

Mount Aloysius now stands at 7-11 on the season heading into a conference matchup on Saturday at home against D'Youville.
