Box Score 2 Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius baseball team closed out AMCC regular season competition on a high note as the Mounties defeated Medaille by scores of 9-0 and 8-1 on Sunday afternoon.
In game one,
Derrick Capiak continued his stellar pitching with a complete-game performance on the mound. He allowed just three hits and no runs while striking out ten. Offensively,
Benjamin Legath fueled the Mountie lineup with three hits (single, double and triple) and three RBI's.
Cory Dick had an RBI triple in the bottom of the second that gave the Mount a 1-0 lead, and
Bryn Brown,
Dylan Oswalt and
Brock Gladfelter added two hits apiece.
In game two, Legath dominated from the hill, allowing three hits and one earned run before
Brady Wright closed out the ballgame.
Connor Bowie singled in two runs in the bottom of the first to give Mount Aloysius a 2-0 lead. The lead expanded to 5-0 in the third, and the Mounties added three runs in the fifth to create the final scoreline.
Ian Helsel went 3-for-4 with two RBI's in game two from the leadoff spot.
Cory Dick registered three hits and a run scored.
The Mounties will return to action for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday against Frostburg State University before the opening round of the AMCC tournament next weekend. Mount Aloysius will either host Pitt-Greensburg or Penn State-Altoona depending on results from tomorrow's doubleheader between Penn State-Behrend and Pitt-Bradford.
