Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius baseball team is currently preparing for the opening round of the AMCC playoffs, which are set to begin on Saturday for the Mounties at home with a best-of-three series against nearby rival Penn State Altoona.
The Mounties, who finished up conference play with a 10-6 record, will be making their sixth consecutive appearance in the conference tournament. Coach
Kevin Kime has led the baseball program to the AMCC playoffs every season since the team became eligible for postseason competition in 2009.
Mount Aloysius will enter the tournament as the #3 seed and face off against the Lions, who earned the #6 seed while finishing 8-8 in conference play. In the regular season, Mount Aloysius swept the Lions by scores of 4-1 and 5-0 in their AMCC opener on April 1st at Altoona. Benjamin Legath.
Thee three-game set will begin at 10 am on Saturday and will be played throughout the day on the Mount's home field. The winner will advance to the AMCC Championship round on May 9th at La Roche, the top seed in the conference.
