Box Score Greenville, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's soccer team lost 3-2 to host Thiel College on Friday evening in non-conference action. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Mounties.
Thiel scored first in the 9th minute of play and the two sides battled it out throughout the first half with the Mount trailng by a goal. Towards the end of the half, Kyle Marshall found the end of a Jim Smith free kick from near midfield and knocked it home to deadlock the two sides at 1-1 heading into the half.
The Mountie defense broke down for a two-minute stretch in the opening stages of the second half, and the Tomcats scored two goals to increase their lead to 3-1. Mount Aloysius put pressure on throughout the remainder of the second half, and cut the deficit to 3-2 when Graham Hunter scored off a Kevin Ouellette feed with 6:54 left on the clock. The Mounties had a few chances in front of goal as time came to a close, but couldn't capitalize down the stretch.
The Mounties are now 3-3 on the season and travel to Hood College on Tuesday for a 4:30 pm kickoff.
