Box Score Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team won their second game in a row with a 76-70 victory over D'Youville College on Saturday afternoon.
Dillon Bender,
Arin Wade and
Joe Dziabo each finished with 16 points to lead the Mounties on the offensive end. Dziabo notched eight rebounds, while Bender grabbed six boards and hit four shots from behind the arc.
Tanner Thomas finished strong with 12 points and nine rebounds, and
Nolan Doyle registered a game-high six assists.
The Mounties jumped out to a 14-5 advantage and held the lead for much of the first half. D'Youville gradually chipped away and tied the game at 29-29 with 2:27 remaining in the period. A three-point shot from Bender and layup from Doyle gave the Mounties a slight 34-31 lead at the half. In the second half, the two sides traded the lead back-and-forth throughout. With Mount Aloysius holding a 66-64 advantage, Bender hit a hit triple to increase the lead to five with 1:55 left on the clock. The home side went 5-for-6 from the free throw line to seal the victory in the game's final minutes.
Mount Aloysius forced 20 D'Youville turnovers, and the two teams were relatively even in rebounding with the Mounties having a 44 to 42 edge.
Julian Reed led D'Youville with 15 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks.
The Mounties return to the court tomorrow with a 3 p.m. tipoff at home against Pitt-Bradford.
