Box Score Cresson, PA - Despite shooting 58.5% from the field, the Mount Aloysius men's basketball team lost 110-104 to visiting Pitt-Greensburg on Monday evening in an AMCC contest.
The Mounties shot 38-for-65 (58.5%) for the game and also hit 20 of 24 free throw attempts. The visiting Bobcats were also extremely efficient on the offensive end and pulled away by hitting 17 of 34 shots from behind the three-point arc.
Mount Aloysius senior
Tanner Thomas led the Mounties with 31 points on 14-for-16 shooting from the field. He added 14 rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Dillon Bender scored 24 points, and
Nolan Doyle registered a double-double with 17 points and ten assists.
Arin Wade (11) and
Tre Brown (11) also finished in double figures for the Mounties.
Greensburg has six players score in double figures, led by Mike Connelly who scored 30 points in 25 minutes off the bench. Marcus Thomas had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The two sides both lit up the scoreboard early on as the game was 26-22 in favor of the Bobcats just over six minutes into the game. Greensburg led by as much as 11 before Mount Aloysius went on a 13-2 run to tie the game at 37-37 with 7:07 remaining in the first half. At halftime, the Mounties led 55-54.
The game was a back-and-forth battle throughout the second half and the teams were tied 101-101 with 1:28 remaining when the Mount's
Nolan Doyle hit a free throw to give the hosts a one-point advantage. After
Arin Wade drove in for a layup to tie it up again at 104-104, Greensburg drew a foul and hit both free throws. Doyle missed a three-point attempt with 23 seconds remaining, and the Bobcats hit their final four free throws to seal the win.
Mount Aloysius falls to 4-5 in conference play and 6-10 overall. They return to action on Wednesday with a road contest against Franciscan at 8 p.m.
