Westminster, MD - A cold shooting performance in the 4th quarter doomed the Mount Aloysius women's basketball team in a season-opening loss to Juniata College on Saturday afternoon. The Mounties fell by a final score of 58-41 to the Eagles as part of the McDaniel College Tournament.

The two sides traded the lead back-and-forth early on as the Mounties led 11-7 before an 8-0 run from the Eagles gave Juniata a 15-11 lead with 9:33 remaining in the second quarter. Mount Aloysius then went on a 9-4 run capped by a Kara Cordell three-point shot to take a 20-15 advantage. Juniata ended the half on 14-5 run to take a four-point lead into the halftime break.

In the third quarter, Juniata expanded the lead to as large as 13 at 38-25 with 6:23 remaining before Mount Aloysius embarked on a 15-0 run. The Mounties took a two-point lead into the final quarter as Abbie Zinobile drained a shot from behind the arc with 14 seconds left to play.
