Box Score Westminster, MD - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team had a one-point lead against Hood College at the half, but couldn't hold on in the second half and fell by a final score of 65-49 at McDaniel College on Sunday afternoon.
Despite shooting just 7-for-31 (22.6 %) from the field in the first half, the Mounties led 27-26 at the break. Mount Aloysius stymied Hood on the defensive end as they held the Blazers to nine field goals made and forced nine turnovers in the opening 20 minutes.
In the second half, the Mounties cold shooting from the field continued as they converted on 5 of 37 field goal attempts. Mount Aloysius led 33-28 with 8:24 remaining in the third quarter before a decisive 14-0 run by the Blazers.Â
Mount Aloysius cut the deficit to 46-40 on a
Breana Kendrick three-point shot with 8:31 to go in the game, but couldn't get any closer down the stretch.
Abby Kulick recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double performance, and Kendrick mixed seven points, six rebounds and two steals.
Abbie Zinobile grabbed eight rebounds while
Kara Cordell notched seven boards.
The Mounties return to action next Saturday with their home opener at 3 p.m. against Capital.Â
