Mounties Fall to Capital in Home Opener

Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team fell into a 38-14 halftime deficit and couldn't recover as the Mounties lost their home opener 64-47 on Saturday afternoon to Capital University in non-conference action.

Antwayne' Parks finished with 13 points and nine rebounds to lead Mount Aloysius, and Hannah Drenning contributed 11 points on the strength of a 3-for-6 showing from behind the arc. Abbie Zinobile grabbed eight rebounds, and Breana Kendrick dished a team-high four assists.

Capital stormed to a 7-0 lead until the Mounties got on the board with a Kaleigh Roop layup. Parks hit a jumper on the Mount's final possession of the first quarter but the home side ended the period down 18-6. Capital expanded the lead throughout the second quarter and took a 24-point lead into halftime.

The visiters expanded the lead to as much as 31 points before the Mounties started to execute on the offensive end in the fourth quarter. The closest the Mounties would get would be the final 17-point margin of victory.

Mount Aloysius returns to action on Wednesday with a road contest at Frostburg State University at 6 p.m.
