Box Score Cresson, PA - Fueled by a 50-33 first half, the Mount Aloysius men's basketball team earned their first conference victory of the season with a 90-74 win on their home floor against Medaille on Saturday afternoon.
The Mounties shot 6-for-11 from three-point range and 14-for-17 at the free throw line as they jumped on the visiting Mavericks in the opening half.
Dillon Bender led the way with 17 points in the half including a 4-for-6 shooting performance from behind the three-point arc.
After leading by 17 points at the half, the Mounties held off a second-half run from Medaille that saw the deficit cut to nine points at 77-68 with nine minutes remaining. Mount Aloysius responded with a 10-2 run to keep control and led by double digits for the remainder of the game.
Bender finished with 24 points and
Arin Wade scored 21 points while grabbing eight rebounds.
Jourdan Lamberth registered 18 points, and
Tre Brown mixed eight points, eight assists and two steals.
Mount Aloysius shot 31-for-53 (58.5 percent) from the field and 12-for-20 (60 percent) from behind the three-point line for the game.
The Mounties improve to 1-3 in AMCC play and 4-5 overall. They will return to the court on Friday with a non-conference game at Lancaster Bible College at 6 p.m.
