Box Score Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team recorded a close victory by a final score of 70-67 over visiting Bethany College in non-conference action on Tuesday evening.
Antwayne' Parks paced the Mounties offensively with 16 points as she shot 6-for-6 from the field and 3-for-4 from the free throw line while adding six rebounds.
Alexia Servello had a good floor game from the point guard position with 11 points and nine assists, and
Abby Kulick registered 11 points.
Kaleigh Roop recorded eight points and eight boards off the bench.
The two teams stayed even throughout the first quarter and the Mounties expanded on a five-point lead after the first quarter with a 6-0 run to start the second that gave the home side a 30-19 lead. Bethany came back later in the quarter to cut the deficit to two points before the Mounties took a 38-34 lead into halftime.
The tight battled continued throughout the second half, with Bethany leading 67-64 before
Breana Kendrick hit a three-point shot with 1:32 remaining to tie the game. Kulick hit a free throw with 1:02 on the clock, and after two missed free throws from the Bison, Roop came up huge with a layup as the shot clock buzzer went off with 16 seconds left. Mount Aloysius got a stop on the final possession to win it.
The Mounties improve to 5-4 overall and return to action January 3rd at the Gettysburg College Tournament.
