Box Score Pittsburgh, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team suffered their first conference loss of the season by a score of 88-61 to La Roche College on the road on Wednesday evening.
The Mounties came out of the gate firing as Mount Aloysius took a lead of 11-10 on an
Abbie Zinobile layup with 3:29 to play in the first quarter. La Roche responded, however, scoring the final 14 points of the quarter to take a commanding 24-11 lead. Mount Aloysius jumped back into it with the first six points of the second quarter, but the Redhawks responded with another run and led 38-23 at the break.
La Roche continued to expand on their advantage throughout the second half to take the victory.
Zinobile led the Mounties with 12 points and six rebounds.
Alexia Servello added 11 points on the strength of a 7-for-8 showing at the free throw line, while
Breana Kendrick and
Antwayne' Parks each scored nine points. Defensively,
Abby Kulick,
Katie Bracken and
Kara Cordell each recorded three steals.
The Mounties will look to get back into the winning column on Saturday with their first home conference game of the season against Medaille at 3 p.m.
